Wildtree with Erin Review and Giveaway by Ashley

Hi Everyone! This is Ashley. I recently received a jar of Wildtree Hearty Spaghetti Sauce Blend in the mail. I don't know about you but I had never heard of Wildtree until my package arrived...so to the internet I went. My Wildtree product was sent to me by Erin Girard, a Wildtree consultant. If you're like me, you may be thinking..."What is Wildtree?" Well, today I'm going to teach you something new!
Wildtree is a direct selling company that launched in 1999. Before its launch, its founder made products out of her home and attended fairs and shows with her products. It was founded on the premise that food should be natural, nutritious, delicious, and easy to prepare-all at the same time. {I found this info from Wildtree's catalog.} Wildtree offers over 150 food items, including breads, soups, culinary blends, sauces, dressings, salsas, marinades, desserts, and the finest expeller pressed Grapeseed oils. Just from reading the info on Erin's site, I learned that Grapeseed oil is better for you than olive oil. After looking at the catalog and browsing online, I was instantly hooked. What is even better about Wildtree is that there are no additives, preservatives, MSG, nuts, or dyes in their foods. In a world, where almost every single person is allergic to something, it's nice to know that Wildtree offers products that are safe and healthy for your family. My son cannot eat or drink foods with certain red dyes so I'm appreciative of Wildtree's efforts.
On to the product review, Erin sent me the Hearty Spaghetti Sauce Blend. All I had to do was combine 1 tbsp. of the blend with a 28 oz. can of crushed tomatoes (I used diced.) and I had instant spaghetti sauce. I cooked it for a little less than 20 minutes, added some angel hair pasta and diced Italian-seasoned grilled chicken to it, and I had the best meal. It felt so good knowing what I was eating was actually healthy for me. Take a look at the pic. Of course, I had to top it with some grated parmesan cheese.

Look at the picture of the Spanish Style Garlic Shrimp and the Crab Cakes!!! You will definitely be hungry after visiting Erin's site. I love that her site also has the recipes for all these yummy dishes made with Wildtree products. The catalog has some delicious recipes, too. In this busy day and age, it's handy when recipes do not require much time and effort. Wildtree not only can help you with that but it lends healthy products to your meals, making family mealtime more meaningful.

If you've fallen in love with Wildtree then there are several options for you, you can start by entering the giveaway below. Sign up for a chance or several chances to win your own Hearty Spaghetti Sauce Blend from Erin. You can also join the Wildtree family for just $99. As their catalog says, if you find out that Wildtree doesn't fit you, then you can always eat your kit. :) You can also host a tasting party, skype tasting party, online party, or a freezer meal workshop. For those who just want a few items, shopping online is a definite must. For those that LOVE to shop online, then you might want to consider becoming an online Culinary Club Member. Contact Erin today at wildtreetoyou@yahoo.com

Interview Day Again

I got another interview! I am so excited, even though where I am applying to will not be open for over another month, I will be relieved if I can find something for this summer. Don't want to say to much other then, thank goodness that I got another interview, I am so excited. I am all ready and dressed up for my interview this afternoon, but first I have class, hotel lab and a drive down to the city for the interview.

I decided with this tough economy, I would give out some tips on how to interview and sell yourself for the job you want, even if you are "over qualified", which seems to be a big problem for me. So here are some tips that I have gotten from seminars and classes about how to interview.

~Make them want you, sell them why you are great and what you could bring to the company
~Know about the company, know what makes them great, see if they are expanding and say you would love to grow with them
~Figure out what the competitive pay is, but dont sell your self short or ask to much, this is a tough market right now, employers have options and you want to be competive
~Dress for the position you want, dont over dress or under dress for what your applying for
~Dont talk negatively about past experiences, instead say it was a challenge that you had to learn to overcome
~Dont have a long resume, its a known fact they only look at a resume for under one minute, highlight every job that will make you stand out, keep it to one page
~Smile, remember, they want a friendly, outgoing and serious employee, not a dead doornail

Do you do interviews? Do you have any tips on what I havnt covered? Send me an e-mail and let me know! I would love to know tips on what to do and what not to do!

Do You Bake? with Sheri

With this review, I would like to introduce you to a not so well known direct sales company called "Do You Bake?" based out of Pennsylvania with independent consultants for the company all over the United States. This amazing company has a home-based business plan where women and men can join the company and sell the products at home shows & catalog shows to make additional income. Like other direct sales companies, you are in charge of what you make and how big you want your business to be. If you are looking to make money from home by selling delicious gourmet food products then you need to check out "Do You Bake?". They are an all natural company, that doesnt even make the mixes till you order, keeping freshness at its highest! Our Do You Bake? consultant Sheri, is based out of Texas, but can ship orders anywhere!

The company offers a wide variety from dip mixes, bread mixes, hot & cold beverage mixes, dessert mixes, rice & pasta mixes, snack mixes, cookie mixes, spices & seasonings and a whole lot more! The company site even has ideas and recipes right there to help you plan your meals! Which is great for the parent on the go, or for a parent to send to their broke college kid!

Sheri sent me the Coffee Cake mix, the mix is 6 ingredients packed into 3 packages. To the mix, I was told to add 1 cup butter, 1 cup sour cream, 2 tablespoons vanilla and 2 eggs. I will say, I altered the butter slightly, seeing as I am trying to watch my fat intake, I cut it down to 1/2 cup butter and a 1/2 cup applesauce.

I LOVE how they label everything so there is no mix up and no mistakes, not to mention I feel like someones mom made this for me!

The instructions were great! Super easy and I am sure anyone can make this cake. You start by creaming your butter and sugar mix, then you add the eggs, vanilla and sour cream, mix a little then add bag two. Then you melt some butter and add it to bag 3 to make the crumb. When your all done, about 5 minutes later, you have this.

This batter was delicious, I had to taste it before it went for its trip to the 350 degree oven for about 35 minutes. Let me just say my whole house smelled AMAZING! It smelled all day and even part of the next morning, i love when I bake and I love how simple it was to bake this! They say that their mix prepared their way with normal ingredients is about 320 calories per serving. If you substitute like I did for the butter and then do light sour cream like I did, you have a great 250 calorie snack!

Look at this cake! Isnt it the perfect golden brown? With the right amount of crumb...oh let me tell you how amazingly moist it was and how not over powering it was with my tea for snack that day!

That had to be my favorite after class snack and the breakfast for the next few mornings in awhile. I mean you cant really beat the simplicity of it or the fact it is all natural and for about $1 a serving after buying the mix and the other items needed to make it, its not crazy expensive like I have seen some other companies prices be. This mix is only $7.75 and makes 16 servings of oh so yummy goodness.

So are you ready to give them a try? Head on over to Sheri's website and see all the great meal solutions, slow cooker kits and even the dog treats! I mean this company has it all and its all a great price! Are you ready to win some Do You Bake? gift certificates? Two lucky winners will win $5 to shop with Sheri!

Dove Chocolate Discoveries with Sandra

I recently had the opportunity to review Dove Chocolate Discoveries Mousse Mix from Sandra Foy, an Independent Dove Chocolatier. Almost everything I needed to make the mousse was provided in one packet, which is a HUGE time saver compared to the way I was taught in Culinary school to make mousse. The only item I purchased to make the mousse was the heavy whipping cream (3/4 cup to make one pouch). The instructions for making the mousse are printed on the mix packet and are easy to follow. I had no difficulty, nor do I think someone with little kitchen skill would have following their instructions and I had my mousse made in less than 15 minutes. Once my mousse was complete, I set it in the fridge to set for almost 2 hours, packet says one but I believe 2 is better since thats what I did in school. When the mousse was fully chilled, it was tasting time!  The mousse has a very rich chocolate flavor yet it was light and airy and just melted in my mouth. Each packet makes four servings, which is great because you can make two different mousses and do a pretty presentation for when you have a dinner party.

Whipping my cream, oh how I love my 21st Birthday gift! This mixer is the best!!

I used the microwave because I do not have the proper bowl to do a double broiler, but I would do a double broiler or be VERY careful not to scorch or burn the chocolate in the microwave.

I had to get this picture from Sandra's website because I accidentally ate the mousse before I took a picture. Im sorry, it was just one of those days that I saw chocolate and opps..before I knew it, it was gone. But I can assure you, my mousse did look like this, minus the mint, I had strawberries instead!

Do you want to try this product for yourself? Are you thinking great date night ahead? How about for my male readers? Simple easy CHOCOLATE dessert she will love? Well, the product number is 3200D and the cost for 2 packets and the chocolate is $18! Not to bad for a super quick and easy dessert where you only have to buy cream which is about $2. This mousse mix has also been declared kosher by the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America, so its pretty much a go for anyone!

Ready to try and win yours? Fill out the form below for your chance to win!

Gold Canyon Review and Giveaway

I don’t know about you, but I love to come home to a good smelling house, especially one that smells like food. I am talking about cinnamon rolls, pie, and lemon bars. However, I hate cooking, so I like to find things like candles and warmers that will make my house smell good like that. I leave the cooking up to my sister.

Knowing how much I love for things to smell good my sister asked me to try out the Gold Canyon Scent Pod Warmer. I was really excited to try out something new…I have been using another wax warmer, and I’m sure that you can all guess who makes it.

Gold Canyon’s warmer is a little different. The scents come in little pods, and all you do is remove the lid and stick them in the warmer. I chose the Lemon Bar scent surprise, surprise. All I had to do was take my pod and pop off the lid and stick it in the warmer.
Here is the Zebra Warmer I got!

The cool thing is that the warmers have timers on them that you can set, so you don’t have to worry about forgetting to turn them off. You can set it to turn off in 4, 8, or 12 hours. I set mine for 8 hours and went about my business. When I came home the house smelled amazing. It smelled like I had been baking for hours.

There are a few things that I wasn’t thrilled about. There is not light bulb, so you don’t get that additional light or “feeling” of a candle, but on the upside you don’t have to worry about replacing a bulb. I also wasn’t crazy about the pod because it stuck out over the top of the warmer and you could see the plastic. However, the pod does make clean up super easy because you just let it cool down and then throw out the entire container. Gold Canyon also says that you can dump out the wax and re-purpose the pods for storage containers, which is much better for the environment.

There were some really great things that I loved. I really loved the fact that you could set a timer and have it go off when you wanted it to. Then you don’t have to worry about whether or not you left the warmer on, or you could set it for a little bit and have the house smelling nice when you come home. That would help to extend the life of the pod, which is 20 hours. I also thought that it smelled really good! My mouth was pretty much watering. It smelled that much like lemon bars.

Do you want to win your own Gold Canyon warmer and pod? Enter below using are awesome new entry system! Let me say, you will LOVE all the different scents they have to offer and the awesome timer on the warmer.

National Pancake Day

Today is free pancake day at IHOP. It benefits Childres Miricale Network, pancakes are free but they ask that you donate a few bucks to the cause. IHOP does this every year and let me say it is always packed! Going on your lunch hour might not be a good idea because the wait could take longer then you have for lunch.

I normally go every year but this year, I have class all day and night so I will not be going. Wo here is going to get some pancakes today? It's till 10 pm and remember if you don't have much to give, even a dollar helps, anything helps!

The Job Hunt Continues

Why is it that employers complain that "no one wants to work" or that everyone who applies "doesnt fit the need" or my favorite, "everyone is to qualified and will just leave"

There have been numerous job interviews, call backs and applications filled out on my part. Most of the stores on-line say how many of the positions they need filled. Why is it that some companies have had over 4 spots open for over 5 months and yet I am still not good enough to train. How hard is it to see that I am a college student who lives in town, and has 5 semesters left? Granted, I do not tell them I am leaving shortly for my abroad studies, so I look very appealing.

So why is it jobs wont take the time to train an employee or even to speak with the applicant? I dont want a crazy wage, heck minimum wage would be awesome currently since i have no income. I dont need time off, i would love to work weekends and cover shifts and no matter what they say about how I dont have customer service..I just dont get it. I work in the food industry, tell me how I do not deal with customers, granted Im not telling them that those jeans make you look thinner or that shirt makes their eyes pop..if I can up sell someone's dinner tick by $50, wy couldnt I talk them in to accessories or a better brand of jeans or even a cute shirt to match their new jeans. I am starting to think that companies have become lazy. They no longer invest in an employee, they dont see how much training could help their bottom dollar and I now realize why some places have such a high turnover.

So what does this mean for me? Well, it means that I will be going on more interviews and filling out a countless number of applications till I can find that company that is willing to train, willing to see my potential and willing to give someone a chance. So, if anyone knows of a job in Stillwater or Oklahoma City Metro, please let me know! I have become a pro at filling out applications and answering the same questions at interview, it just seems that none of my experience is where the jobs are at, or when I do find a job in my industry, it seems I am to good for them in their eyes.

Well, I am now off to do some more homework, work on the Gold Canyon Review and Giveaway, so I can maybe get it up tomorrow or in the next couple of days! Also, remember to enter the giveaways!

What is LOVE?

As defined by dictionary.com, love is,
1.a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person.
2.a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection, as for a parent, child, or friend.
3.sexual passion or desire.
4.a person toward whom love is felt; beloved person; sweetheart.
5.(used in direct address as a term of endearment, affection, or the like): Would you like to see a movie, love?

so what does all this mean? Doesnt everyone have their own view on love? Doesn't everyone show their love differently? So who is a definition to say what love is?

Personally love to me has changed over my life. From my first love of a dog named Timber, to my elementary school boyfriend Drew, to my amazing little dog Peaches, to the love of my life Cole. As you can see just my own journey has been a bit odd, of course there are guys from here in there in the middle, and some of them did impact my view of love, but not enough to make me realize WOW this is love.

So how do I define love now at 22, I define love as a feeling of all is right, knowing that you would do anything for that person, feeling complete and that all important feeling of being the most important thing in the world and that feeling that when you are with them, it's like no one else is around. Love is something that everyone will feel differently, act on differently and no love is the same, but I can say when you find it, you will know.

So with all is said, I just want to wish all of you a Happy Valentines Day! I hope you all embrace the true meaning of today, it's not about the card, candy or flowers. It's about the love, the connection you share with someone or something and knowing that nothing else in the world could make you any happier then with them.

I hope you all spend your day wisely and realize that it's not about the candy it's about the love something that seems to have been lost thru the years.

Willow House with Ashley Review and Giveaway

Are you busy baking away cookies, cupcakes and cakes for Valentines day? Are you planning any dinner parties or a family get together? If so, I highly recommend checking out the fabulous selection and affordable prices at Willow House! Recently, I was sent the adorable, Willow House Continental Kitchen Pot Holder and Oven Mitt, by Ashley an amazing Independent Consultant for Willow House Design and Jewelry. I was so excited to see these in person, they are my favorite two colors and well, they are more mature looking then the normal college student budget allowed me to buy at first. You may not know, but Willow House was formerly known as Southern Living at Home. Willow House has a wide range of home decor including decorating and accessories, kitchen & food, dining and entertaining and outdoor living. There is even designer jewelry by Sara Blaine too.

I will say, Willow House I thought would be out of my price range, considering they are a direct sales company. When I looked at their catalog, I realized they were just as reasonable as Target or Pier One, which let me say was awesome! They have awesome sales all the time, including one on these pot holders and oven mitts right now! You can check out the sale HERE. They even have an outlet sale, where the prices are dirt cheap and change all the time. You can see the Outlet Sale HERE

Okay enough about the awesome sales, on with the review! Let me start with, the material of these, they are so soft, they have a slight sheen to them and they are not to thick, but not to thin. The potholder is also larger then most, making it perfect for pulling out cookie sheets without burning your fingertips or wrist. The oven mitt is the same, only add an adorable little ruffle and a size that isn’t to big or to small but covers the wrist perfectly. I will say almost all of my mom’s mitts and mine and holders are faded and stained from abuse and use, but when I spilled brownie batter on my potholder, I was sure it was just going to match the others, faded and stained. But to my surprise, the stain came out, the holder still looks brand new and the stain is completely gone! I don’t know if that is because of the material or my tide stain release, either way I am so happy it is still perfect and my big girl holder!

Are you ready to win this cute little pair? If so, here's how!

Jamberry Nails with Skyla

Okay, I must admit, I LOVE mani pedi days and I love going to the nail shop, I LOVE my shop. If you are local to OKC or Edmond, I must say you need to try US Nails! They are amazing and I have been going to Jimmy and Tiffany for years, but let me say, not having a job and it costing me $60ish to get mani, pedi and eyebrow wax isn’t really in my budget. So when I heard about these nail shields from Jamberry, I was excited. They say the sheets give you 2-3 manis worth and they are only $15, plus they run specials where you buy so many get one FREE! How great it that $5-8 for a mani done by you that wont chip, will last 2-3 weeks and comes in cute designs? Let me say, I was very curious about this after seeing it all over pinterest and facebook. So I set out to find a consultant, that is when I got Skyla, and AMAZING Jamberry consultant that has provided me with the sheets!

Now what is Jamberry and how do they work? Well, they're different than other products such as nail stickers or appliques because you need a blow-dryer to apply them, isn't that crazy!?!? When the glue on the back of these shields is heated up, it is activated and with firm pressure, it forms a strong bond with your nail. This allows the shields to last up to 2 weeks on tips and 6 weeks on toes! Let me just say these are the neatest thing I have every tried! I will say, I am glad that Skyla sent me a few extras to play with before my first real sheet came. They are like an art form and let me tell you, Skyla has all the tips and tricks on how to get these babies to work and look PERFECT!

The shields come in a ton of different designs and can be mixed and matched how ever you want, to create a custom look! I got the Turquoise dot for my review and I loved it. I will say, my fingernails must be odd sizes because I had to cut most of the shields to fit my nails correctly, which is fine, gave it a more finished look. I will say,  there is a slight learning curve to the application process, but once I got it, it was pretty easy to do! I made a few mistakes in my first few tries, such as touching the glue to many times and not sealing the edges fully, but after some practice and tips I was able to get it down.

These shields are perfect for those of us who love the designs and look of them and just don’t have the time. They are also great for someone who constantly chips their polish and hates that. The shields take about the same amount of time to put on as painting your nails does, but the PLUS is no dry time! When they are on, you are done and ready to go and not worry about the chipping.

Room for improvement? I wish they either sold the tools to put them on, or that they came in the pack. I think it would be great since most ladies that go to the salon don’t have some of this stuff needed to apply these. I also think more solid colors would be awesome for the ladies that don’t want designs, or like the few solids they offer or want to do the whole solid then a pop of design on one nail.

Now do I have you excited to try them? Well good, because Skyla has sent me a sheet to send to one lucky reader!
 It's the Multi-Color Chevron Shields!

Visalus Review-Part 1

Ashley here....About a month ago, I received a sample packet of Visalus in the mail from Visalus Distributor, Shelley Chambers. If you're like me, you've heard of Body by Vi. It's everywhere and promising to give you weight loss results. Not only that, Visalus promises to make you feel better, to curb your appetite, and to make you want to crave healthier foods. Are all these things true? Yes! I can honestly say, YES! I've lost 11.4 pounds on Visalus so far. I had been using it before Shelley sent me the sample. I love it! Shelley has lost over 39 pounds and 41 inches so far. She's down 7 pant sizes! Go Shelley!

I use the $49 Balance Kit (1 shake a day). Shelley uses the $99 Shape Kit (2 shakes a day). There are several different types of kits for sale depending on how you want to transform your body. I started out replacing my dinner with a shake but soon changed to drinking a shake a day for breakfast instead. I couldn't live without my shakes. I crave them. I make mine with 8 oz. of skim milk, 2 scoops of shake mix, and then I add 1 tsp. (sugarfree butterscotch Jello powder, malted milk chocolate powder, unsweetened cocoa, OR sugarfree swiss mocha) to my shake and blend. I will say this.....You have to play around with the flavors to see what works for you. I do not like mine with frozen fruit or ice. I do not like mine mixed with peanut butter or pumpkin pie filling. I do not like cherries or liquid flavor oils in mine. A banana is delicious, though. You can purchase flavor packs for your shakes, add your own flavors from what you have at home, or you can just drink it plain. Remember the shake tastes like cake so a plain shake tastes like sweet creme. You can also try yours with almond milk, soy milk, rice milk, or coconut milk. I love that there are so many options. Each time, you order your shake mix, it will come with some flavor samples for you to try. My favorite Visalus flavor is chocolate. The others-strawberry, peach, orange, and banana are not for me.

One shake = 90 calories, 7 grams of carbs, less than 1 gram of sugar, 5 grams of fiber, and 12 grams of protein, plus whatever milk you use and flavorings. The shake mix is gluten and lactose free.

I know you're asking if Visalus is right for you or not. Well, I know several doctors and nurse practitioners that sell it. I spoke to my doctor and she said, "Go for it!" Pregnant mothers can drink it as long as they make sure they intake enough calories throughout the day. Children 4 and up can drink it, too. My 4 year old loves for me to make him a shake from time to time.

I feel better on Visalus. It is filled with so many vitamins that you can't help but feel better. There is one more downside to it, though. It gives you energy and while that is a definite plus, it can be a negative. How? Well, when you have so much energy that you stay up til 12 or 1 am night after night after night, it eventually catches up with you. That is what happened to me. Don't get me wrong, the shakes do not make me hyper, just energized. I want to be active. I want to stand more and not sit. I guess you could call it the anti-lazy shake. :)

Who do I know that uses them? My mom does. She is a diabetic and her A1C levels were the lowest they had been in 6 years according to her doctor. She just saw him a few months ago. My mother-in-law does, as well as her co-worker. Several of my friends use it and several of my friends are distributors (sellers). I'm not going to get into being a distributor but I will say that as a customer, you get your own website. What you do with your website is totally up to you. I share my website with friends when they want more info on Visalus or are thinking about ordering some. If you get 3 friends to purchase Visalus kits from you within a month's time, you get your next month's shakes for free (You just pay shipping). It's not a gimmick. It's reality! For the past 2 months, my shakes were just $6. Six dollars is the cost of shipping and boy do they know how to ship fast. You will receive your shakes within 1-2 days after ordering. Their customer support team is awesome, too. I know because I've had to call them twice before.

Bottom line, if you've been thinking about making that New Year's resolution come true, now is the time. Contact Shelley and she will set you up with a sample. I know you will love Visalus! To come: Nikki will review Visalus and offer a giveaway from Shelley. Thanks again, Shelley!

P.S. The box makes a great toy for your small child. See picture below!

Bugs..Bugs and MORE Bugs!

Okay, I must say, I LOVE this weather we are having here in Oklahoma, but I do NOT love that all of the sudden I have a huge bug problem again. I have been finding crickets, some odd little bug, a grub thing and now a roach! I am not happy, I keep my apartment spotless, take trash out every week sometime twice if it is stinky and I spray bug spray.

I fully understand it is part of nature to have bugs when you live close to a field, but umm roaches are not okay! I have never had to mess with them, except for when I worked in fast food and in the summer they would come in boxes because they love boxes. Well, here at my house, I dont keep boxes, all my food is in bags or airtight containers and I clean after every meal. I have been spraying, but it doesnt seem to be helping, they still keep popping up. What can I do? I cant keep spending all this money on sprays, I dont have the money for it. Granted, roaches dont seem to be in here anymore, its the other bugs that keep coming in here without being invited.

Does anyone have any great tricks or home remedy's that dont cost much to try? I am looking for anything that could help! I would love your help too, I would have thought all the bleach and lysol I used this past week would have helped but doesnt appear to be helping. Who has an idea?

Also, stay tuned today for some great reviews/giveaways and WINNERS!

Back to class I go now! Have a great afternoon!

Sick yet again..

I am currently sick again. Nothing major just a bad head cold where half my head wants to explode and the other half wants to run away. I am planning on having winners posted and 2-3 review up tomorrow! I had planned on working some on the blog this friday, but I have to go work! Its nothing great, just some freelance work for the night.

I am currently trying to disinfect my apartment, wash all my clothes and sheets and do homework. I hope this helps keep me from getting sick again. I hope everyone does the same after they get sick, this whole circle of sick is not my friend.

Time for me to get some homework done and make some soup/stew, not sure which one I want to make yet. I might do some sort of crescent roll dinner, just need easy! Hope everyone has a great day, see you tomorrow!
